Chicago Open Archives event: This program will include a combination of showcasing "behind the scenes" artifacts and a short lecture. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to get up close and personal with several of historic texts from the collection. 

The program will last approximately 45 minutes. Registration is not necessary, but is encouraged.

Admission fee required: While registration for this special event is free (and is listed as such on the left), participants will need to pay the regular entrance fee to the Museum upon arrival: $15 for adults, $10 for students, teachers, members of the military, and seniors.

The International Museum of Surgical Science is located in one of the few remaining historic mansions open to the public on Lake Shore Drive. It boasts four floors of exhibits that range from topics of medical history, ophthalmology, gynecology, and much more. The Museum is home to over 20,000 artifacts and 4,000 rare medical texts.
