CAA Cancellation and Refund Policy

The volunteer Chicago Area Archivists (CAA) committee members that plan CAA programs and events attempt to keep costs as low as possible, and establish registration fees only when necessary to cover expenditures. Any revenue generated from the collection of registration fees is used to fund the creation of new programs.

Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, CAA has the right to either issue a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date.

CAA reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which render the event non-viable. If CAA cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund.

Refunds will not be available for registrants who do not to attend an event.

No transfers or credits.

Effective November 12, 2013

CAA Honorarium Policy

CAA recognizes the labor that is involved with presenting, teaching a workshop, or participating in a panel discussion. In most cases, our programming is conducted by our membership and is a part of that member’s regular job duties. Often the idea for a program comes from members themselves who wish to lead or present on a topic that they have been actively involved in and are proud to share with the community. This type of participation is part of what it means to be an active member of CAA and is considered to be giving back to an organization that serves to help its members develop professionally.

Occasionally however, we recognize that a speaker, presenter, or teacher goes beyond their normal job duties or beyond the normal duties of membership, or is a non-member who has provided valuable information to our community. In these cases, CAA will provide an honorarium whenever possible. Honorariums are not to exceed $200 per person, per event. They will be doled out at the discretion of the Steering Committee.

Please contact us to see the full policy on honorariums.

Effective May 18, 2021

CAA Photography Policy

Chicago Area Archivists (CAA) reserves the right to photograph or video its events, including presenters and attendees, for future CAA publications or promotions. Attendance at events shall be deemed consent and permission to use attendee’s image as captured in photograph or video in connection with the promotion and marketing of CAA.

By making photographs or videos available to CAA for these purposes, the photographer/videographer grants CAA permission to use these items in CAA publications or promotions.

Effective November 12, 2013
