Chicago Area Archivist Awards

Member of the Year
Janet Olson Award

Member of the Year

Award Description

This annual award recognizes excellence in service to Chicago Area Archivists. In particular, it highlights members who contribute to the goals and activities of the organization in roles outside of Steering Committee and Subcommittee chairs.

This award is meant to recognize excellence within CAA; it is meant for CAA members who have gone above and beyond to serve the organization.

Winners are announced at the annual CAA members meeting in March and are recognized on CAA’s website.

Eligibility

Nominees must be CAA members in good standing who have gone above and beyond to serve the organization. Current chairs of Steering or of Subcommittees are ineligible. Though meant to recognize the efforts of individual members, there may also be nominations for projects or groups consisting of up to three CAA members.

Nomination Guidelines

The CAA Outreach Subcommittee is responsible for convening an ad hoc awards committee made up of CAA Subcommittee chairs. The ad hoc committee reviews submissions and confers the award.

If you would like to nominate a CAA member, please email info@chicagoarchivists.org with the name of the nominee and a brief paragraph explaining why they should be CAA Member of the Year. CAA members in good standing may make nominations (inactive and non-members may not nominate). Nominations must be received by January 15th.

They must have a history of significant contributions to CAA and should have worked to ensure its continuing existence and its success in meeting its goal to further the professional development of archivists in and around Chicago. Members may not self-nominate.

Nomination Guidelines

The CAA Outreach Subcommittee is responsible for convening an ad hoc awards committee made up of CAA Subcommittee chairs. The ad hoc committee reviews submissions and confers the award.

Nominations may be submitted at any time between the annual CAA members meeting in March and the following January 15th.
