Chicago Area Archivists members and guests are invited to a free tour of the Art Institute of Chicago's exhibition Project a Black Planet: The Art and Culture of Panafrica, brought to you by the Archives and Archivists of Color interest group. Dr. Adom Getachew of the University of Chicago and Dr. Antawan Byrd of Northwestern University and the Art Institute of Chicago, members of the exhibition's research team and contributors to its catalog, will give us a tour of the exhibition. In addition to art objects from Africa and around the world, the exhibition contains extensive materials from archival collections including publications, photographs, and ephemera.
Tour group will meet at the Art Institute's Michigan Avenue entrance at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
CAA members may reserve one or more free tickets for themselves or guests but we are limited to 40 people. Following the tour, people will be free to explore the exhibit or the rest of the Art Institute, which will be open until 8 p.m.
