Chicago History Museum - Behind the Scenes Tour

Take a behind the scenes tour of archivists’ offices and the Research Center to learn how archival materials are acquired, processed, and made available to researchers.  Visitors will have an opportunity to see materials that relate to current exhibits. After the tour, visitors can explore the museum on their own.

10 a.m. - 10:40 a.m. (1st tour)

11 a.m. - 11:40 a.m. (2nd tour)

Maximum capacity: 20 visitors per tour

Admission Fee is Required: Please note that Chicago Open Archives visitors will need to pay the $14 admission fee for the Chicago History Museum to attend this activity. The fee will be collected on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the Visitor Services Desk on the first floor. Please allow extra time for this transaction.

The Chicago Historical Society, now the Chicago History Museum, was founded in 1856. The research collection of the Museum includes archives and manuscripts that represent Chicago history through events, such as the World’s Columbian Exposition, organizations, like the Catholic Interracial Council, and businesses, including Marshall Field & Company.
