Lunch & Learn: What's Your DAM? WBEZ Archives

Registration

CAA invites you to the third event in the Lunch and Learn series, What's Your DAM?

Our guest speaker is Justine Tobiasz, who is an artist and archivist focusing on news media and archives. She has been serving as the archivist for WBEZ since 2018, where she focuses on writing policies, implementing new strategies for preserving current born-digital audio content and completing the cataloging work of the station's recently digitized analog audio holdings. In addition, Tobiasz handles reference requests from WBEZ's newsroom and the public for research and rebroadcast as well as work on projects for outreach. Earlier this year, Tobiasz was able to collaborate with Chicago's Weinberg/Newton Gallery to provide access for artists using the WBEZ Archives to create work for the current exhibition, Return To The Everywhere.

The WBEZ Archives preserve, provide access, and promote the use of the audio content created, broadcast and/or published digitally by the station. The bulk of the cataloged collections fall between 1985-2007 and contain mostly broadcast airchecks, talk shows, newscasts, raw audio, and special programming. Audio content created after 2007 is born-digital and is in the initial stages of archival processing.
